There’s so much I want to do. Endless tasks to be done. Yet limited hours lie before me in the day and blip of a week ahead. Where in the world do I even start? What first? It all matters. Have you found yourself at this crossroads before? Staring down the multitude of routes to take. You want desperately to pick the path that leads to peace and purpose, joy and fulfillment. And I suppose it’s possible they’ll all get you there. But how do you know which turn to take? Which road to run down ... VIEW POST
Linger Long Enough With God to Discern His Direction.
“Stop the Busy and Soak in the Blessings.” (New Devotion + News!)
I couldn’t wait to cross the finish line. Complete the project. Reach the goal. I had worked so hard. Busied my beat-up body to the bones in effort to accomplish the giant undertaking of writing my first 55,000 word manuscript. And I was overjoyed at the mere thought of nestling up in the escape of a good book, taking leisurely afternoon strolls with Mike, and breathing in deep draughts of life till peace restored my weary walk. It sounded fabulous. I could hardly wait. And I ... VIEW POST
“Let God Fill the Well in Your Soul.” (FINAL DEVOTION. Writing my book! Publisher prayer, answered!)
Do you ever have so many words, you have no words? I mean, if someone were to ask you, “How is your heart?” You would freeze. Solid. Packed so full of diverse emotions, that the fear of a messy explosion keeps you bottled up in a silent, seeming-safe-place. A dwelling that actually resembles more of a well of mucky debris. That description seems most fitting for my current inner chaos. I’m not so sure you want in, and I’m not so sure I want to see the yuck of what might come out. Do ... VIEW POST
God Gives Us Good News, When the World Gives the Bad.
Do you know what really stinks? Bad news. Hello “Captain Obvious,” right? I’m not sure what’s going on in your world, but in my neck of the woods, I’m feeling blindsided left and right with some heavy stuff. Loved ones suffering. Friends devastated by diagnosis. Loss, grief, and fear. I hate it. And as the world dumps all of its “bad” on top of your already overloaded life, it can become borderline suffocating. But still, there sneaks in the occasional “good” news. ... VIEW POST
Answer the Calls of the Lord, Not the Commands of the World.
The voices of the world are wreaking havoc through my heart and causing chaos in my core. Thrashing thoughts in 1000 different directions. Lord, help not listen to such taunting… “Do this, or they'll be disappointed... If you don’t do that, you’ll miss your mark... It is all up to you… If you don’t, who will? Run harder or you’ll never catch up... on your list, on your budget… in life. You’re neglecting your children, and they need you. Your husband misses your attention and ... VIEW POST
Peace Isn’t a Result of Having Enough of Anything, But Jesus.
I wonder if you have a lot to do today? Who doesn’t, right? Confession. I messed up BIG yesterday. It all started when I found myself staring almost breathless at an overloaded plate of plans. You know this feeling. We’ve all been there. Faced with a crossroad of choices, I had two options. To start chomping away at the variety of giant hard to chew pieces, OR, start with the easy to swallow, peace infusing, smooth sweetness of the Bible study I knew would open and cleanse my palate, ...
