My heart is broken. For the broken. Specifically the shattered souls who don’t realize how desperately they need Jesus. Because I’ve been them before. And the darkness is ridiculously deep. Empty. Lonely. Numbing. And though I’m confident in our need for the Savior, I tend to slip back into pits and forget its vast depth at times.
You’ve been there, haven’t you? Maybe even now. In a state of dim. Longing, pining for more. More love. More purpose, fulfillment, contentment. Richer relationships. Brighter days.
We all desire something more.
But here’s the heartbreaking space of this existence. It’s when we’re missing or misplace the means to receive the abundance we yearn for. And the truth is, there’s only one key that will unlock the door to the best-for-us blessings we are broken to receive.
Why is it that most of the time, we fiddle with a thousand frauds before we reach for the master key?
God.
He’s the single entry point. And he is many times who we leave out. We lean on ourselves as “lord of our lives.” We follow the world’s illusion and lie that happiness is found in immersing in fleeting feel-good’s and serving “self” before others.
But God’s way, God’s will, is the answer. The solution to unbreak us. To finally fill us. Any other temporary effort and ambition will certainly fail.
Friends, seek God’s way… and keep seeking some more, and you will find fulfillment. We are all broken, but he can absolutely mold our torn apart pieces back together for the better.
There may still be struggle and difficult days. No doubt about that. But hold on tightly, and tighter, to him. With God, only with God, there is never ending hope. His light will forever overcome, conquer, and shine through every bit of your darkness.
Let’s not forget that today.
Reflect:
Do you ever feel wrecked, ragged, or somewhat ripped apart? Will you allow God to heal and fill your shattered spaces?
Pray:
Lord God, We are all broken, but you are always there to help me. To mend and mold something better together with what feels scattered. Remind me that your way is superior to the world’s. And mine. Show me which direction to lean and which steps to take. I know you know what’s best. I want that. Thank you for being there even when I haven’t listened. I am listening, and I surrender. In your gracious name, Amen.
Seek the Word:
I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full. (John 10:10)
In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it. (John 1:4-5)
“I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” (John 16:33)
The LORD is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit. (Psalm 34:18)
Have a blessed week!
