There’s so much I want to do. Endless tasks to be done. Yet limited hours lie before me in the day and blip of a week ahead. Where in the world do I even start? What first? It all matters.

Have you found yourself at this crossroads before? Staring down the multitude of routes to take. You want desperately to pick the path that leads to peace and purpose, joy and fulfillment. And I suppose it’s possible they’ll all get you there. But how do you know which turn to take? Which road to run down first?

Deep within I think I have the answer. But why do I keep avoiding it? Resisting.

Maybe you too?

When what we need to do is this. Stop. Sit with God. Linger a little longer. And ask him for direction. So much more than we are. He will never steer us wrong. We know this, right?

So, instead of peering, freezing, or second-guessing, before aimlessly pursuing the next task at hand, will you just pause with me? Force a hard reboot, and take a time out? To ask God, and to listen for his nudge toward the next best step. He knows where we should go. He knows what steps we ought to take. He will lead us to the rich life you and I are longing for. And it starts with listening more, and leaning harder… on him.

Reflect:

Do you want to find the path God wants you to follow? Are you ready to ask him and linger long enough to listen for his answer?

Pray:

Lord God, There are so many choices flooding my way. Leaving me paralyzed to pursue the proper steps of faith and obedience. Help me run to you first. Help me linger with you. And to listen for your guidance. You are always there. Thank you for your unfailing hand of help. Thank you for your unconditional love. In your constant name, Amen.

Seek the Word:

Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.  (Hebrews 4:16)  

Let the morning bring me word of your unfailing love, for I have put my trust in you. Show me the way I should go, for to you I entrust my life. (Psalm 143:8)
