I have so much I want to say… but sometimes don’t. Anyone?
Thoughts, opinions, frustrations, and passions. They may simmer at the surface, but then fizzle with the next distraction. And other times, the flames blaze wild in my mind and seem impossible to contain.
When do I release the fire? When do we let loose the storming sea of perspectives? Or unleash our words to the world – or to one?
Does God want me to speak, or remain silent? After all, HE is the one to consult with whatever we allow to slip from our tempted lips.
If you’ve been in a similar predicament – high on passion and perspectives – can I offer some faith-filled advice to both of us?
How still have you been before deciding to spill your heart?
How much have you asked God to infuse His wisdom into your very thoughts?
How much LOVE, over anger, bitterness, pride, and judgment are you filtering your processing through? Are you feeling any of those ill feelings before you release your reproach? Or has love, unity, and the ultimate hope of pointing your audience to Christ consumed your intentions with genuine desire to fulfill the Great Commission?
Whatever you say, say it out of love.
Whatever you do, do it to bring unity to God‘s people.
Whatever you consider, consider it with the heart of the Holy Spirit.
If your heart is Christ-filled and pure, and you have paused and passed your thoughts by the only one whose opinion matters, may you carry-on in God‘s grace as you point people in love and unity to the hope in HIM this world is so desperate for.
I pray your thoughts will be His thoughts. I pray your words will be His words. I pray your hope is in Him.
Reflect: Do you have opinions and perspectives perplexing you? Have you been filtering your thoughts, words, and judgments through the heart of God and his unconditional love for all people?
Pray: Lord, when our passions burn with desire to share what’s inside, may you pour your love, your mercy, and your grace into our hearts. So that we will be full of your wisdom. Help us look to you in all we do. We love you. Our hope is in you. Thank you for your faithfulness. In your mighty name, Amen.
Seek the Word: Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters. (Colossians 3:23) So let’s stop condemning each other. Decide instead to live in such a way that you will not cause another believer to stumble and fall. (Romans 14:13) So then, let us aim for harmony in the church and try to build each other up. (Romans 14:19)
