Overwhelmed? Have you ever taken on too much? Maybe now? But then you ask yourself, what can possibly go… right? I feel the serious need for a bit more margin in my life, but God, “what in the WORLD would you possibly want me to give up?!” It all looks so “good,” so “serving,” so “for YOU,” and for “your people.” I’ve made commitments… and they NEED me. Beyond that, they need the “best” of me. But my best is gone.
Isolated from the world in the comfort of my bedroom, I allow secret tears to slip. Tears of defeat, tears of weakness, overwhelm, and uncertainty.
Sound familiar? Can you relate to these emotions?
I protest in desperation… Lord, show me a way out. Guide me away from what needs to go, or please, send me your strength. …I am asking for HELP.
HELP.
Wait, is that it? Is that the answer?
Sometimes God does want us to cut some stuff out. But, many times, HELP is the key. We can not do this life alone. Friend, ask God for help. God wants to help. But do not forget to ask people for help too.
God created us to depend on him, and many times that looks like leaning on the people He sends our way. In fact, He’s nudging someone’s heart right now to serve. Someone in your life’s path is literally praying for a sign from God to reveal who they should help.
Ask others for help, and let God help you through them.
When giving up something in your life, or on your list of commitments, doesn’t seem to be the answer, HELP is often just what God wants to give you. Open your gracious heart, open your bold voice, open your humble ears, and open the way to God’s abounding strength and compassionate help poured out to you.
Reflect: What can you ask God for help with today? Who can you bless by allowing them to serve you?
Pray: God, Thank you for always listening to our cries and for opening the hearts of others. Help us to trust your answers and your perfect timing. In your mighty name we pray… Amen
Seek The Word: Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ. (Galatians 6:2) My help comes from the LORD, the Maker of heaven and earth. (Psalm 121:2)
