Tied up in tangled knots. That’s the state of my heart these days. I wake to it day after day. Stare at the mess again and again. With no notice of the beginning or end, or even a loose loop to pull out, cut free, and unravel the scrambled confusion.
Do you ever feel off? Stuffed with a soul that you can’t distinguish why it seems off-beat, how it happened, when it started, where things got side-tracked, and how in the world you can possibly iron out the craze back to smooth?
At stuck seasons like this, I know I need more of God. To be more still with him. To depend more on him. Dwell deeper in his peace and grace. And fight out and off the temptation to slave drive into anxious doing and striving to meet the world’s expectations. My self-focused expectations.
Yes, God cares more about our heart surrendered to him, than anything our hands might produce for him.
I know this.
So I try. I try to release the monstrous weight of the aches and pains of my people. Shove away every burden out of my control. And remember that he’s in control.
And sometimes God reinstates calm. But other times my soul stays tied up too tight, and the frazzle within lingers and remains. It’s then, it’s now, that we must remember God’s faithfulness.
And we must remain faithful to him.
He is working. He is molding me. And you.
Always.
His masterpiece of your soul means meticulous chiseling away to unveil the smooth edges of beauty in the works. And he may want us both to stay still a little longer, right where we are this time.
So let’s stay with him. While he keeps working. On you, on the things around you. And the circumstances that maybe don’t even appear to have the hope of panning out anytime soon.
Trust the truth that what he begins, he finishes. Trust the truth that he is working for good. And keep clinging to the steady hands of the great and mighty faithful father.
Reflect:
Do you feel something is off, circumstances seem wrong, and unsure how to get it all right? Do you know he is still working on something beautiful in and through you?
Pray:
Lord, sometimes my heart and head feel cluttered beyond notice. But you know me. You know the purpose of every strained strand, and the plan to flush it all out. Help me continue to cling to you amidst what suffocates and doesn’t make sense. You are so faithful. Help me remain faithful in return while you do your work in me. Thank you for your abundant unwavering love. In Jesus name, Amen.
Seek the Word:
And I am certain that God, who began the good work within you, will continue his work until it is finally finished on the day when Christ Jesus returns. (Philippians 1:6 NLT)
For the word of the LORD is right and true; he is faithful in all he does. (Psalm 33:4)
Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us. (Hebrews 12:1)
Have a blessed week!
