If these words were a song, it would surely be my number one repeated tune. I nag myself daily, sometimes hourly, with this reminder… that I am NOT the god of all my “goings-on” and I’m wasting loads of energy trying to assume this monstrous role.
Do you run yourself ragged too? With assertive attempts to do it ALL? Take care of everyone… everything… each demanding time sucking detail, and then some. I bet you’re convinced if you could simply handle this, finish that, or get on top of whatever else, you’d finally gain some composure, sense a bit of joy and relief, and get that R & R you’ve been longing for – once and for all.
And this is what the enemy wants. To see you running around NUTS on the notorious hamster wheel. You’re working relentlessly and tirelessly in order to “take it easy” – at least I am most of the time – but the truth is, we can take it easy… NOW.
You might be A-OK running the show… BUT… If you’re exhausted, if you’re “spent” trying to carry too big of a load, would you just STOP with me for a minute? God doesn’t want you to be miserable. Pause and know that He certainly will provide for you and all the things you’re scurrying around trying to control.
It may seem supernatural to assume time and space can be shifted without our human hand on everything in front of us, but THAT is what God is. THAT is what He does. His power is greater than any human mind can fathom.
All you need to know is that He has a good plan, He is fully capable of caring for all things, and His will WILL be done. So if you’re feeling weary in your fight for control, you can breathe in some peace and take it easy, sweet friend. Because the control does not and will never belong to you. He’s got ALL things in HIS mighty good hands.
Reflect: Are you feeling weary? Are you assuming too much control of your physical or mental load? Could you benefit from easing up a little and allowing God to do His work?
Pray: All powerful God, I admit, I neglect to remember You are in control of the details of my day. Help me lean more on You and less on myself, so that I may receive the refreshment You offer in Your almighty presence. I am gratefully blessed with Your intentional care of each aspect of my life. Thank you for Your constant protection and peace. In Your glorious name, Amen.
Seek The Word: The heart of man plans his way, but the Lord establishes his steps. (Proverbs 16:9) But Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.” (Matthew 19:26) Many are the plans in the mind of a man, but it is the purpose of the Lord that will stand. (Proverbs 19:21)
