It’s always a rough start to the day when you haven’t even made it out of your bedroom and you can hear one of your kids being reprimanded for something. I just hate it. I hate that my husband and my son had to start the day with anger, and I hate that one of my children has to then face and deal with the consequences of their actions. Because I know it literally breaks his heart to lose his beloved phone for three days. First world problems, I know! Anyway, I really, just want some peace! ... VIEW POST
I’m Sorry You’re Frustrated, But 100% of the Time, You Are Not Perfect.
3 Things I Realized the Day My Son Stopped Needing Me
I had no idea it would happen so fast. They say the days are long and the years are short and I was starting to get it. It all began to hit me in the fall of 2015. Our then family of only five was about to take off on a trip of a lifetime to Disney World. I hadn’t been since my one and only trip at the age of fifteen and my husband once at thirteen. We couldn’t wait to see the kids faces when we walked into the Magic Kingdom. I could picture it; the awe, the amazement, the joy all over their ... VIEW POST
Are you killing it this summer? Or is the summer killing you?
Alright, mamas! And dads...because I know you “guys” struggle with this too! Time to listen up! Believe it or not we’re already nearing a month into summer and you’re feeling a little cray-cray! Before you read any further, I want you to breathe. Right now. STOP. Close your eyes, breathe in, now breathe out. Yes, you’ve been feeling like a race car driver who just lost control of the oversized vehicle you lug around all those kids in, but I’m here to tell you (and myself), YOU ARE NORMAL. ... VIEW POST
Stop stressing every decision… Either way you’ll be OK!
Van or SUV? Black or white? Do you take the new job? Do we get the puppy? Do we buy the lake house? Should you take the vacation, go to the concert, or stop at Starbucks on the way to your meeting? Which route should you drive to work today? And, then… the decision that inspired this post… which elevator do you take at work? What if there are two, and both elevator doors open at the same time, now what? Which one? The voices can be maddening! I’m going to start with this… This is ME! And ... VIEW POST
The most important thing a father can do for his children…
“The most important thing a father can do for his children is to love their mother.” ...A framed sign with these words remains in my parents’ house to this day, with the year “1984” hand-written on the back. That’s 35 years, y’all! 35 years and I never noticed it was there. Until I did… Just a couple weeks ago, I was sitting at my parents’ house doing what I love to do during my designated quiet time away from the kids on Monday mornings. I love to read. I absolutely get filled and energized ... VIEW POST
Looking for Purpose? …Look harder.
Have you ever lost something that didn’t want to be found? Or so it seemed? My 12-year-old son has an unrelenting habit of misplacing things. For the record, he really is a GREAT kid, but I’m convinced the old saying “if it was a snake it would’ve bit ya!” was made for Will. In fact, speaking of old sayings, if I had a dime for every time he “temporarily” lost something, well we’d be living in a multi-million dollar beach house on the Panhandle of Florida which is heaven on earth in my opinion! ...
